Does a heat pump do air conditioning?
An air-to-air heat pump does. It moves heat out of the room in cooling mode and into the room in heating mode. Seasonal performance depends on the system, design, outside temperature and how it is used.
What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
From 21 July 2026, an eligible residential air-to-air heat pump can receive £2,500 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Air-to-water and ground-source systems receive £7,500, subject to the full scheme rules.
