Renters and flats: cooling without the install.
Portable AC + Balcony Solar
A future option for renters and flats once the UK regulatory changes are complete. The government is developing rules for sub-800W plug-in solar, but these products cannot yet be legally sold, supplied or used through a standard UK socket.
Why this bundle works
Small plug-in solar could eventually offset part of a portable air conditioner's daytime draw without a permanent rooftop array. It remains a future UK option, not a bundle SunCooled can currently recommend for installation.

Questions, answered
Is balcony solar legal in the UK?
Not yet. As of 9 August 2026, government guidance says plug-in solar products cannot legally be sold, supplied or used through a standard UK socket. Regulations and an interim product specification are being developed.
Not a current UK installation route
The government intends to enable compliant plug-in solar, but the required regulatory changes and consumer guidance are not yet in force. Do not buy or connect a product through a standard UK socket based on this page.
