Questions, answered
Can solar panels really run an air conditioner?
Yes. A modern inverter split AC often draws roughly 0.8 to 1.5 kW once running, while a suitably sized array can produce several kilowatts on a bright summer afternoon. Actual coverage changes with cloud, shade, roof direction and how many rooms you cool.
What does the bundle cost?
Our early planning figure starts around £5,900 for a 1 to 2 unit wall-split installation plus a 3 to 4 kWp solar system. It is not a quotation. Roof access, cable routes, equipment and room loads can materially change the installed price. Grants only apply where the household, property and measures meet the scheme rules.
Do I need a battery?
Not for direct daytime use. A battery can move spare solar into the evening, but the percentage of daytime cooling covered by panels alone depends on the array, weather and AC load.
