SunCooled operates suncooled.co.uk. We publish AC, solar, weather and grant information and review requests for possible installer introductions.

Information you send us

When you submit an installer request, we collect your name, email, postcode, property type, preferred system route, message and a record of your consent. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email and message.

We use this information to respond, review the project, administer the enquiry and, where you have asked us to do so and a suitable route is available, share the request with an installer. An installer that receives the information becomes responsible for how it uses your data for its own quotation and services.

Postcode outlook

The live outlook sends the postcode you enter to our server and then to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to obtain approximate coordinates. We use those coordinates to request a weather forecast from MET Norway. The postcode is not added to our enquiry database by this tool. Lookup results may be cached to reduce repeat requests, and our hosting and external service providers may process technical request logs under their own retention and security practices.

Anonymous quote benchmarks

The benchmark form does not ask for your name, email, installer or street address. We temporarily receive the full postcode so we can validate its format, then store only the outward postcode district with the quote's structured price, date, property and system fields. Submissions are reviewed before use. Public results contain rounded aggregates only, and a group is hidden until it contains at least five approved submissions.

Room maps and LiDAR files

The multi-room planner stores your editable room inputs in local browser storage on your device. When you import a normalized SunCooled scanner JSON file, the website reads it locally in your browser and does not upload it. The native scanner is designed to export derived geometry such as room bounds and window area, not camera photos or video.

If you choose to continue from the room planner to supplier quotes, a validated copy of the room inputs and screening results is held in session storage and shown on the quote form. It is sent to SunCooled only when you submit that form with contact consent. We store it with the request and may share the displayed room plan with a suitable installer so they can review the property requirements. Removing the attached plan before submission excludes it from the request.

Service providers

We use hosting, data storage and email-delivery providers to run the site and receive enquiries. These currently include Netlify and Resend. We also use public data services including MET Norway, EC JRC PVGIS, OpenStreetMap Nominatim and GOV.UK. We disclose only the information needed for the relevant function.

Analytics and cookies

Google Analytics is configured to remain off unless you give analytics consent through the site's consent control. You can change or withdraw that choice through the same control. Essential security and preference storage may operate without analytics consent.

How long we keep information

We keep enquiry information only as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain necessary business records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. We do not sell enquiry data.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal data, object to processing, or ask for a portable copy. You can also withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
